Recycling

Since January 1st 2021 we started (optional) recycling at the Rode Kruislaan! We are doing so in collaboration with De Key and waste disposal company Suez. The local council of Diemen recycles her waste since several years, which stimulated us to start this initiative.

How does the recycling work?

In the waste rooms in the flats are 3 rest containers, one plastic and one paper container. The last two bins are placed at the back of the rooms to prevent confusion between bins. We request that you dispose of plastic in a separate bag and that you dispose of paper directly into the bin. You are allowed to use regular trash bags for plastic waste. Stickers are applied in the waste rooms to indicate what can be thrown away in each container.

About the plastic bin

The following items can be disposed of in the plastic bin:

  • Empty plastic containers
  • Cans and aluminum containers
  • Drink cartons

The plastic bin is not meant for:

  • Non-empty containers
  • Containers with a capacity over 5 liters
  • Containers larger than a sheet of A4 paper
  • Containers with warning labels

About the paper bin
The following items can be disposed of in the plastic bin:

  • Unsorted paper and cardboard

The plastic bin is not meant for:

  • Binders
  • Paper combined with metal or plastic
  • Laminated paper
  • Dirty/burned/greasy paper (no pizza boxes)
  • Wallpaper or silicon paper
  • Wax paper
  • Carbon paper
  • Paper bags with non-paper lining

All other trash goes in the regular trash containers.

Associated costs

If everyone complies with the rules there will be no additional charges to your rent. Recycling is optional, so we expect zero to no bags containing regular trash will end up in the recycling bins. If this does happen, a fee will be charged per bag. These costs will be settled in the yearly service costs. See a trash bag in the wrong container? Move it to the right container. You’ll save yourself and your fellow residents some money, and you’ll have a positive impact on our environment.
