This is a message for dutch students living at De RXL!

Hallo allemaal!
Wij zijn Tim, Bente, Sanne, Kim en Lisanne en wij zijn op zoek naar een nieuw bestuur voor onze prachtige bewonersvereniging: De RXL! 🌼

Als bestuurslid help je de gehele De RXL draaiende te houden. Je houdt toezicht op de commissies, organiseert vergaderingen en onderhoudt het contact met de woningcorporatie Lieven de Key.

Hierdoor zie je wat er achter de schermen speelt in onze flats, en leer je de bewoners en actieve leden van De RXL goed kennen. Ook zal je deel uitmaken van een hechte vriendengroep die het leven in Diemen lekker op zijn kop zet. 🤩🏳️‍🌈

In het bestuur zit een voorzitter, penningmeester, secretaris en twee algemene leden. Mail naar info@derxl.nl voor meer informatie over de verschillende posities! 📩

Last Wednesday ‘t Kruispunt turned very spooky during our very own Halloween party! It was great seeing everyone dressed up and we even handed out prizes for best costume 👻

We had a blast searching for all kinds of different mushrooms in Diemerbos 🌲
Red, brown, white, large small or stinky, so many different ones were found 😁

We'll be organizing 2 rounds of music bingo for you to participate in on Wednesday the 20th of November during the weekly break the week borrel. As usual, you can get unlimited drinks for €5 for the whole evening (until our supply lasts), or you can buy separate drinks for €1,50 each🍻

Are you a garden gnome? Or do you like a good champignon on your pizza?
Now, we have no clue which mushrooms in the wild we can eat... but we do know they can look beautiful, ugly, and absolutely freaky 🤩

The gardening committee organizes a mushroom walk on the 3rd of November, 14:00. We will go to the Diemerbos, look for mushrooms, make pictures, see who found the most bizarre mushrooms, and then have a drink 🍻 at House of Bird 🐦! The chair of gardening will also give us an educational view on mushrooms and fungi as well, and where you gotta focus on during a mushroom walk!

We gather on our 🚲 at 13:30 at the basketball court, so meet you there?

It’s time for the special halloween Break the Week! Put on a costume, and come and join us in ‘t Kruispunt on October 30th for a special spooky evening! As always, the first drink of the night is on us until 22:30.

To celebrate this season, the best costume of the night will win a prize!

Well… that certainly does not seem true for this group. One year after the incident a masked killer is on the loose and they seem to have it out on them.🔪🩸

Will they survive? Will this intro finally stop sounding so serious? Like honestly the dude’s getting high with the homies in a scream suit…😂

Hiii! 🙂 My name is Bente and I'm in my second yea

Hiii! 🙂 My name is Bente and I'm in my second year of the Master's Artificial Intelligence at the VU. I'm currently active at De RXL in the Party Committee and as a general board member, and I used to be active in the Bar Committee and Activity Committee as well.

I've been living here for exactly 5 years now (I feel old). I went to the welcoming dinner and I decided to join the Activity Committee and (back then) the Food Committee, because I thought it was so nice to get to know people that you live with and have your friends just a few steps away. Now I still feel very lucky to be part of this community!

A fun (and weird) fact about me: I can't burp (so please don't make me chug any carbonated drinks 😢). Instead, give me a tosti and I'll be the happiest girl alive.

My favourite spot in Diemen is Diemerbos when I want to release stress or blow off some steam. I'd like to take a walk, then have a coffee and read a book at House of Bird, it makes me feel good :).

I hope De RXL will bring you as much fun and joy as it brought me, and I hope to see you at our events!! ❤️

On Wednesday the 25th of September (after the Welcoming dinner🍕) a boardgame night was organized!!🎲♦️♣️

People were sitting together thinking about which scenario was shittier than the other🤔 party hats were put on, regular card games were played🃏 and some people even turned to a physical game of Twister🤸‍♂️

My name is Tijl de Bruijn, and I study Ecology and

My name is Tijl de Bruijn, and I study Ecology and Evolution at the UvA. I've been in the Gardening committee for the last 4 years, and I've been chair of Welfare for the last year.
I'm probably the biggest ant nerd you've ever met. Want to chat to me, but don't know how? Ask me something about ants… I have studied 2 different species, and read about them in my free time 🐜📚
My favourite place in Diemen should be the main square (diemerplein). Every year the Diemerfestijn takes place there, bringing together hundreds of people, every week there's a farmersmarket where you can get the freshest produce, and my job of local politician is also basically there. For me it is very important to be active in politics, especially as a younger person, and perform that job in the heart of Diemen.
Why did I become active within de RXL? Because I love nature and gardening 🌱🥕 My first activity and first committee was the Gardening committee, with which I started the vegetable garden together with a few other people. We have been growing the most beautiful and tasteful vegetables for the last 4 years, and I could not be more thankful for it ❤
Along the way I made the best friends, and found the most lovely people with different views on life, different mottos etc, which has made me understand the world around me better. De RXL has made my student life a good one!

Last Tuesday we had an amazing time at the welcoming party for the new international students! It was a fantastic evening filled with great company, delicious dishes from all around the world, and lots of laughter 🍽️🌏 Everyone enjoyed the great atmosphere and the chance to meet new friends!

INTERACTIVE OFFLINE DUTCH COURSES STARTING IN OCTOBER!

In the first week of October (week 40), Can’t Dutch This, our longtime Dutch course partner will host a new run of interactive and speaking-based basic (A0-A2), intermediate (A2-B1) and advanced (B1+). The course aims on learning how to speak the language and you will go on a couple fun outside excursions to experience Amsterdam from a Dutch perspective. You’ll learn the language in an interactive and fun way with small groups of fellow students. See the link in the story to sign-up and find more information about the course.
